I’m very excited to say that I have ten accounts to give away for the Archetypal Coach. It’s something I’ve been building with Olivier Mythodrama (OMA) for the last couple of years, and of all the AI I’ve worked on so far, it is the most humane: kind, sympathetic, and relevant to the person it’s talking to. If you’d like one of the free accounts, message me directly or leave a comment on the LinkedIn post.
Where the archetypes come from
The coach is built on Archetypes at Work, a framework developed by Richard Olivier and Lawrence Hillman. The idea of archetypes goes back to Carl Jung, so some of the names may feel familiar: patterns of behaviour and motivation that show up in stories, organisations and people across every culture. Archetypes at Work groups ten of them into five realms: Order (the Sovereign and the Strategist), Relationship (the Nurturer and the Lover), Creativity (the Dreamer and the Storyteller), Change (the Renegade and the Transformer) and Action (the Warrior and the Explorer).
I’ve written about archetypes before, and the reason they fit so well is that they don’t put you in a box. We all have all of them. What differs from one person to the next is the balance: which ones we reach for first, which ones we lean on under pressure, and which ones we barely use at all.
A coach you can talk to about work
The simplest way to use the Archetypal Coach is to drop in and start a conversation. You can ask it for guidance and support on any work challenge: a difficult relationship with a colleague, how you’re performing, how to get back in touch with your creativity when the day job has squeezed it out.
That on its own is useful, but it isn’t where the coach really earns its keep. Plenty of AI tools will give you advice. What makes the difference is a coach that understands something about you, and how you’re built, before it starts pontificating.
Start with the questionnaire
So rather than diving straight into the coach, the thing that added the most value for me was filling in the questionnaire first. It takes about fifteen minutes. If you’ve ever done Myers-Briggs or Insights, the format will feel familiar: a series of questions about how you tend to think, act and respond.
At the end of it you get your Archetypal Preferences, the balance of all ten archetypes in you, presented as a report. You can read it on screen or download it, and the download is written so you can hand it to your other AI tools, like Claude or ChatGPT, and they’ll understand you better too.
When the coach knows you
The bigger change is in the coach itself. Once you’ve completed the questionnaire, every conversation starts from your preferences, so the coach isn’t guessing at who you are.
I have to say that, for me, its understanding has been quite profound.
It has helped me use my strengths better. I’m a natural Strategist: organised, ordered, happiest with a plan. The coach recognised that straight away and helped me lean into it deliberately rather than by default.
More surprisingly, it has helped me understand the archetypes I use less, and how much value there can be in them. The Explorer and the Renegade are two I’m reaching for much more every day now, as I try to create new and innovative apps. And the Transformer, as I go into companies and help them through technology-driven business transformation. These were never my first instincts, and having a coach that could see that, and show me where they’d help, has changed how I work.
How to get an account
Each account includes the Archetypal Preferences questionnaire, your Archetypal Preferences report, and twelve months with the Archetypal Coach. You can buy one directly from archetypalcoach.com for £149 plus VAT.
If you’d like a free account, let me know on the LinkedIn post or message me directly.
Disclosure: OMA engaged my company (Lightenna) to build ArchetypalCoach.com and gave me these 10 accounts to give away. They have not seen or approved this content before posting, I’m not paid for this video and receive nothing from sales.
